Facts About the Mission Ridge Ski Area

Sun and Snow

Mission Ridge is located 12 miles from Wenatchee, Washington, a cozy little town in the Cascade Mountains. The resort is famous for both its high quality of snow and the above average number of sunny ski days every year. The mountain enjoys over 300 days of sunshine every year, which is definitely a high number for the area. This helps your odds when planning a vacation, helping ensure that the days you spend on the mountain will correspond with perfect weather. Both the snow that falls in the area and the snow that is manufactured by Mission Ridge is particularly dry, which makes for a fluffy powder that is a joy for both skiers and snowboarders. These two facts lie at the heart of why Mission Ridge is so popular for both locals and out-of-town visitors.

Slope Stats

Mountain Ridge is also famous for its wide-open slopes that are perfect for leisurely skiing, and over 2,000 acres of available terrain is available to explore. The top elevation is almost 7,000 feet and the base elevation is 4,570 making for a 2,250 foot vertical drop. Of the 36 designated ski trails, 10 percent are very easy, 60 percent are middle-of-the-road trails, and 30 percent are for the advanced or expert skier or snowboarder. Four chair lifts and two rope tows can carry almost 5,000 people up to the top of the slopes each hour. No matter what your abilities are, you can find a niche at Mission Ridge that will both challenge you and allow you to have plenty of fun with your friends and family.

Don't know the first thing about skiing or snowboarding? No problem. Even if you've never been in the snow before, you can learn from the expert instructors at Mission Ridge. Beginner group lessons are available every day, and various packages are available so you can save money if you purchase more than one lesson. Private lessons are also available if you're more of a one-on-one learner. You can get a one hour, two hour, three hour, or even an all-day lesson for those who really need some special attention. There are also avalanche awareness classes available to learn more about the potential dangers that lurk on the mountain.

Two resorts are available in the area, one right at Mission Ridge and one at nearby Stevens Pass. Lodging is also available in the towns of Skykomish Valley, Wenatchee, Leavenworth, and Chelan if you're looking to get by on a tighter budget.
