Camelback Ski Resort is located less than two hours west of New York City and is one of the East Coast's best kept secrets for outdoor recreation. Camelback is open from 9:00 AM until 10:00 PM, seven days a week from mid-December to late April, weather permitting.
An Overview of Camelback
Whether you're a beginning skier or an experienced shredder, Camelback Ski Area offers something for everyone. The mountain features over 880 vertical feet of skiing, 17 lifts and 33 trails - all lit for night skiing every night of the week:
- 15 percent are expert runs
- 24 percent are intermediate runs
- 54 percent are novice runs
- Seven percent are beginner runs
The resort has recently expanded its mid-mountain terrain park to include the following: Rhondo Terrain Park, Upper Moore's Ramble, Lower Moore's Ramble, Turkey Trot and the Oak Grove Halfpipe.
Snowmaking and Grooming Operations
With over 50 inches of annual snowfall, Camelback still supplements 100 percent of its 160 acres of terrain with 2,000 high capacity snow guns, capable of blowing more than 40,000 cubic feet per minute of man-made snow.
To create endless acres of corduroy runs, Camelback grooms all of its trails using 11 state-of-the-art grooming cats - two are specially designed to keep the half pipes in tip-top shape for skiers and boarders of all ages.
Ski and Snowboard Rentals
If you don't own your own equipment or are interested in trying out the latest technology, the Camelback rental shop has hundreds of skis and snow boards that you can rent by the day. With brands such as Elan, Salomon and Burton, you can be sure that you are getting a quality rental that is suited for every level of skier and rider. The Camelback Ski and Snowboard School offers instruction for all levels of skiers and riders. Winter class lessons are available and they offer packages that include a beginner lift ticket, lesson and ski or snowboard rental for those ages four and older. Private lessons are also available.
For younger, advanced skiers and riders, Camelback hosts the Camelback Alpine Team that is made up of student athlete racers. Freestyle, halfpipe, giant slalom and slalom training is also available through the Camelback Mountain School.
Camelback Ski Resort has also joined forces with the Pennsylvania Center for Adapted Sports and offers a complete adaptive program for beginners to racers, age four and older.
